Pence Puts Biden on Blast for Walking Back ‘Decent Guy’ Comment: He ‘Caved to Liberal Activists’

Vice President Mike Pence is calling out former Vice President Joe Biden for retracting his “kind” comment when he called Pence a “decent guy,” claiming he “caved to liberal activists.”

On Feb. 28, the former vice president spoke at the Chuck Hagel Forum in Global Leadership and talked about Pence’s appearance at the Munich Security Conference.

“The fact of the matter is it was followed on by a guy who’s a decent guy, our vice president, who stood before this group of allies and leaders and said, ‘I’m here on behalf of President Trump,’ and there was dead silence. Dead silence,” Biden said.

However, Biden walked back his “decent guy” comment toward Pence following criticism.

The quick flip occurred when he responded to actress Cynthia Nixon’s request for him to “please consider how this falls on the ears of [the LGBT] community.” Biden insisted that “there is nothing decent about being anti-LGBTQ rights, and that includes the Vice President.”

Appearing in an exclusive interview with “Fox & Friends” on Thursday, Pence blasted Biden for the retraction of his “kind” comment.

“Well, look, they’ve got an awfully big field on the other side,” Pence said, discussing the 2020 Democratic presidential field and Biden’s possible bid.

“The reality that you see on the Democrat side is it’s largely being driven by the most extreme liberal elements in their party,” Pence added, “and the way Joe Biden caved in to liberal activists after making a kind comment toward me is evidence of the pressure that all of their candidates are going to face.”

On Tuesday, Biden teased once more his possible run in the 2020 presidential election, telling union members he’ll need their support “in a few weeks” and joked to “be careful what you wish for.”

“And — I like our chances in 2020,” Pence said.
